Gerry wrote these articles as part of a therapy program that he devised for himself after a serious automobile accident. The metal detecting gave him physical exercise and the writing helped him regain his skills with vocabulary that he had lost. He had been told that he would never do his glasswork again and would be limited because of the neurological damage that he sustained. After many surgeries and struggles in therapy, Gerry proved them all wrong. He wrote many articles over the years and started blowing and carving glass again. Whites' Metal Detectors was so impressed with the articles that to this day they still supply him with new detectors to explore and write articles about. His glasswork is exhibited in many prestigious galleries on the west coast.
