Title

Margaret Rose

Author

Patricia Kirwin

Synopsis

Written with an abiding love for her only sister, who preferred to be known as Margaret Rose after her favorite flower, Patricia Kirwin shares an anecdotal history of her closely knit family from the time of her grandparents through the times of her grandchildren.

Although Marg, as she was affectionately known, was the older of the two girls by some seventeen months, the two sisters were very close as they were growing up, and as adults, she often turned to Pat for support, assistance, and healing.

Ms. Kirwin relates how her sister survived a murderous rape yet had the courage to press charges at a time when the victim was more on trial than the accused. Many years later, she gave up her only child, a daughter conceived in love, because of the prejudices of the times. Although she described the experience as "worse than death," she knew it was for the best and her courage ultimately kept her family together.

With her inspiring words of Marg's courage and grace, Ms. Kirwin allows us a peek into a life well lived.

Biography

Author Patricia Kirwin was born in Windsor, Ontario, to immigrant British parents. In 1956, she married and moved to Michigan, and became a proud American citizen. Three years later, the author, her husband, and their two infant daughters traveled to Europe, where her husband became part of a NATO team designed to plant Jupiter missiles throughout the continent. It was in Italy that Ms. Kirwin discovered her ability to write using the powers of genetic memory.

In 1963, the family settled in Florida, where her husband became part of the first Apollo launch team. Ms. Kirwin's activities have since included full-time motherhood, part-time registered nursing, land developing, and the operation of an exclusive antique shop.

Margaret Rose is one of eight completed novels.
