Biography
Coach Kathy Veroni has won as both a coach and a player. She is one of the winningest coaches in NCAA Division I softball history, and has been Western Illinois University's head softball coach for the past 33 years. Coach has won more than 1,100 women's premier and Division I collegiate games. A respected administrator and clinician, Veroni served as president of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and has chaired the NCAA softball rules committee. She has also been inducted into the Illinois Amateur Softball Association, Illinois State University, and the NFCA Halls of Fame. A letter-winner at Illinois State as well as a standout for the women's major Pekin Lettes, she won the world championship as a professional softball player with the Connecticut Falcons.
Coach Veroni has also authored Coaching Fastpitch Softball Successfully, a 248-page manual that uses her extensive coaching knowledge to show the coach how to build a winning softball program, motivate and teach players, and plan for each season. The manual contains proven offensive and defensive strategies, including 116 drills for developing players' hitting, fielding, pitching and baserunning skills.
