Medicine and doctors have changed over the last seventy-five years - for better and for worse. The old approach of house calls, cooperation between doctor and patient, and the personal touches that characterized the medical practices of the early 1900s are detailed here in the vivid recollections of Randall L. Owens.
Biography
Randall L. Owens is a native and lifelong resident of Mississippi. His wife Tommye Mae Leslie Owens died October 26, 2004 in a nursing home at Fulton, Mississippi. A U.S. Air Force veteran, the author is a member of several veterans' organizations, the National Rifle Association, and the Republican National Inner Circle. He served as the Republican county chairman during Ronald Reagan's presidential terms. Retired after working for the United States government, Lockheed, Boeing Aircraft, and General Dynamics, among others, Mr. Owens continues to enjoy a diverse range of interests, including reading and writing, gardening, travel, and looking at historical relics and antiques as well as horses and dairy and beef cattle. He has been in every state west of the Mississippi, except Hawaii and Alaska.
