Crisis Mode

Author

Michelle Larks

Synopsis

Crisis Mode is a compilation of four novellas set in modern day Chicago. Women of varied financial and economical backgrounds struggle to steer their lives back on track. The heroines experience life-altering dilemmas.

Sharita Atkins is shrugging off the remnants of her dubious housing project legacy. She has completed a training course and life is looking up. Sharita finds herself pregnant for the third time by her street entrepreneur boyfriend in What's A Woman to Do?

Jeanine Meyers learns Family Secrets after her abusive husband nearly kills their child in a drunken tirade. Her family rallies to comfort Jeanine during her mental breakdown. Everyone that is, except her sister Medora. Big sister feels Jeanine brought the misery upon herself.

Letting Go is what Desiree Cooper must decide after discovering what she perceives to be evidence of infidelity by her fiancé Andre Jackson. The timing couldn’t be worse. It's only three days before they exchange vows. Desiree has severe mother issues that explode and send her on a showdown with her estranged parent.

The Smith family philosophy has always been to have Family Meetings as a means to resolve problems. Tragedy strikes and beloved matriarch Anna becomes terminally ill. Feuding sisters Marsha and Martha have never maintained a close relationship. Will they be able to put aside their differences to care for mother?

The heroines find themselves in dire straits, faced with life altering decisions that will change the course of their lives. The supporting cast includes true-to-life characters, some of which will make you laugh, and other will have you in tears.
